NetBSD/alpha 1.2

NetBSD/alpha 1.2 is the first formal release of NetBSD/alpha. The NetBSD/alpha 1.2 release is really just a snapshot of NetBSD/alpha built with the NetBSD 1.2 sources, but it can be used as a stable platform for users who wish to run NetBSD/alpha but cannot follow NetBSD-current.

Chris Demetriou was the maintainer of NetBSD/alpha at the time of the 1.2 release.

If you're interested in installing NetBSD/alpha you should use a more recent version, though the 1.2 installation notes (albeit sparse and, in places, incorrect) are still available.

Supported Systems and Hardware

NetBSD/alpha 1.2 supports the following system types:

Systems not listed may work, but unless they are very similar to listed systems they probably will not.

Supported hardware lists for the various system bus types (TurboChannel, PCI, EISA, and ISA) are below. With each entry, driver names are included in italics where appropriate. Hardware not listed above will probably not work unless it behaves identically to hardware which will.

TurboChannel System Hardware Support

Turbochannel systems must be used with serial consoles, since graphics consoles (frame buffers, keyboards, and mice) are not supported.

For the systems with a TurboChannel bus (DEC 3000/500 family and DEC 3000/300 family systems), the following hardware is supported:

The following hardware may work, but has not been tested:

The following hardware will not work:

PCI/EISA/ISA System Hardware Support

AlphaStation and AXPpci systems include support (depending on model) for PCI, EISA, and ISA devices.

PCI Hardware

The following PCI hardware is supported:

The following PCI hardware may work, but has not been tested:

The following PCI hardware will not work:

EISA Hardware
